Assistant/Associate Professor in Gastrointestinal Microbiology, Tenure-Eligible (TE)

The School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences (ACBS) in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) seeks an outstanding candidate for a tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in Gastrointestinal Microbiology.This position will be 80% research and 20% teaching, and includes appointments in CALS and in the BIO5 Institute.

Individuals with a primary disciplinary focus in gastrointestinal microbiology and a secondary focus in gut-brain axis biology, obesity, colorectal cancer, host-microbe interactions, food safety, metagenomics, metabolomics, or microbial pathogenesis are encouraged to apply.

Expertise in the application of advanced computational biology and wet lab approaches to further understanding of the human and vertebrate animal microbiome is preferred. Excellent opportunities exist for collaborations with faculty members in basic science and clinical departments across campus. This position includes start-up funding and laboratory facilities to encourage research success.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Virology, Tenure-Eligible (TE)

The School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and BIO5 seek outstanding candidates for a tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in Virology.

This position will be 80% research and 20% teaching, and includes appointments in CALS and as a “BIO5 fellow” at BIO5. Our school seeks individuals with a primary disciplinary focus in the use of cutting edge virology and immunology approaches to study the fundamental mechanisms of host and virus interactions that lead to a better understanding of animal and/or human health and to novel therapeutic approaches. Expertise in investigating complex virus-host, virus-virus or virus-microbe interactions and the application of advanced computational biology approaches to the understanding of health-related challenges related to viral infection is preferred. This represents a unique opportunity in molecular/translational virology research. Excellent opportunities exist for collaborations with faculty members in basic science and clinical departments throughout campus. This position includes start-up funding and laboratory facilities to encourage research success.
